Terms & Conditions
We aim to despatch all orders for goods promptly, but within 21 days (15 working days) for deliveries to a UK address. Overseas (OS) orders are priced for, and sent by, International Economy mail so may take significantly longer. If you wish to have orders despatched by International Standard (airmail), please do not order on-line but contact the Society via regular mail or by telephone. You will be asked to pay the extra cost.
For payments for research services, which should only be made after obtaining a quotation for the research using normal methods of communication with the Society, the response time will depend on the amount of research required and its complexity.
Bookings for events will be acknowledged, usually within a few days, to the e-mail address given when you placed your order.
If you are joining the Society for the first time, your membership pack and any editions of The Greenwood Tree already published during the calendar year and to which you are entitled, will be posted to you as soon as possible and within 21 days (15 working days). The same conditions pertain to renewals of existing subscriptions to the Society. Please note that the subscription year runs from 1 January but any subscription received after 31 October in any year will be taken as the subscription for the following calendar year.
Please bear in mind that the Society is run entirely by volunteers and, while we endeavour to give as professional a service as possible, due to holiday arrangements and for other reasons we will occasionally be unable to meet this timescale.
A customer has the right to cancel an order for deliverable goods within fourteen consecutive days after receipt of the goods. Notification of intention to cancel should be received by the Society within this period, in writing. "Writing" includes a letter sent to the Society’s PO Box address, or an e-mail sent to the Society’s email address. A telephone call will not suffice.
On receipt of notice within the cooling-off period, the Society will refund the sale price of goods if, and only if, they are returned in a resaleable condition. The goods are to be cared for by the customer at the customer's risk.
The cost of returning the goods must be paid for by the customer, and will not be paid for by the Society. Payment of a refund will be made by the Society within fourteen days of the date of the notice of rejection, but depending upon the Society’s receipt of the returned goods.
Should the goods supplied be faulty, or not be as described, then the cost of returning the goods to the Society will also be refunded.
Repayment will normally be made by electronic transfer via PayPal.
